As part of the Ryder IT team, the Data Services Intern will perform a variety of job functions for traditional on premise as well as cloud based environments, including but not limited to, operational and analytical database design, working with structured, semi-structured and/or unstructured data, data profiling/analysis, database, data ingestion, ETL, report and dashboard development, testing, documentation, and production environments support including troubleshooting and break fixes. The position could be extended past the summer internship period and may lead to a temporary position.

Requirements: • Senior/Graduate Students pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in management information systems (MIS) , computer science, data science or computer engineering • Exposure to SQL, database management systems, NO-SQL databases, ETL tools like Informatica • Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms • Exposure to machine learning and predictive modeling desired • Knowledge to scripting languages like UNIX shell scripting, Python, R • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented and accountable • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently • Passionate for learning • Good organizational skills • Ability to: • Write SQL queries • Learn new technologies and tools, bring new ideas to the team and be an effective team player • Effectively communicate with management and co-workers and customers; strong customer focus • Learn, adapt, grow, and be flexible • Multitask, demonstrate good organization and time management skills • Work well under pressure, successfully meet schedules, work independently as needed to produce high quality work with minimal supervision • Operate as part of a cross-functional project team that will organize, plan and execute varying scale projects from vision to implementation • Knowledge of: • Data Warehouse Dimensional model structures, including facts and dimensions preferred • Information technologies • Cloud platform like Microsoft Azure desired • BI tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, etc.) • Certificate in Cloud based data ingestion, storage and analytics tools like Azure Data Factory, BLOB Storage, Power BI etc. completed or in progress desired • Certificate in database management systems or business intelligence completed or in progress preferred • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) knowledge desired • Windows and UNIX operating systems

Responsibilities: • Work with on premise and cloud based solutions and platforms • Analyze and document data requirements including facilitation of sessions with business • Data analysis and profiling • Collaborate with the technical team, in any given product development cycle, on data requirements • ETL source to target documentation including business matrix and functional requirements • Develop and test data ingestion and ETL processes • Troubleshoot data ingestion, ETL and data issues • Design, develop, and support interactive visual dashboards and reports • Ability to write SQL queries to profile data and validate solutions delivered against data sources • SQL troubleshooting • Develop and test scripts to support ETL jobs execution • Understand that the end user is the primary reason for the technology and therefore strive for full customer satisfaction • Partner with key members of various departments to determine the definitions of essential data elements • Work with data architects to review and implement logical and physical database models • Support the mapping of source system data to target models into data warehouse and data lake • Define and capture metadata and rules associated with the calculation of metrics • Test automation • Perform other duties as assigned

This internship will pay:

$18/hr. for students currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree

$20/hr. for students enrolled in a Master’s degree
