JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently recruiting for a motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our diverse team of professionals. Ideally, the role will be seated in our Austin, TX office (alternate and remote options may be considered). This role is to support our scopes of work in the Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage industries and with regular interaction with team members across at least five countries.
The Software Engineering Intern will support the maintenance, improvements, and developments of software and programming tools used by the renewable energy team as they related to the development, financing, construction, and operation of solar, wind, and battery storage systems. Whilst this role will have a particular focus on analytical tools, it may also include process improvements, document management and databasing.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Reviewing and resolving bugs on existing software tools and implementing updates and extensions for additional functionality or performance improvements • Developing the coding and software programs and databases for new tools based on functional needs specifications from internal collaborators • Test bed or test environment configurations and management • Drafting and compilation of usage notes, program maintenance requirements, and database management practices. • Creating dashboards and effective visualizations for internal and external reports • Populating and managing internal databases (data and internal knowledge management frameworks)
QUALIFICATIONS • Enrolled in an Engineering or Computer Science Degree • Minimum of 2 years experience working with computer languages with specific focus on python programming language; SQL knowledge is an asset • Excellent time management and organizational skills • A flexible and proactive approach to completing work • Proactive approach to team communications, issue identification and troubleshooting, and lesson's learned logs • Knowledge of sharepoint, Powerpoint, PowerApps, and PowerBI is viewed as an asset • Must be a US Citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
