This role could be hybrid or remote (Nebraska or Ohio) depending on proximity to an office location.

Ameritas is seeking a User Experience (UX) Intern to enhance our customers’ digital experiences by creating a consistent and polished user experience across multiple business areas and initiatives.

As a UX Intern, you will transform interfaces into engaging experiences by modeling user behavior, creating wireframes, and designing interface concepts that are aligned with best UX practices and standards. Working with complex data and mediums, and collaborating with a diverse group of key stakeholders, development teams, and senior partners, you’ll deliver horizontal solutions that support our digital product vision. Throughout your internship, you’ll deepen your experience with digital assets such as responsive websites, web apps, native mobile apps, etc.

This role will begin in May 2024 and will be a 3-month, summer internship.

What you’ll do: • Design outstanding digital experiences that exceed project goals and customer expectations • Put customers first and constantly enhance their digital journey with us • Transform complex problems into innovative, user-centered solutions • Champion user needs and collaborate with product owners to drive product strategy and roadmap • Lead a seamless design process from ideation to launch, in partnership with developers, product owners, data scientists, and user advocates • Elevate design quality by collaborating with UI developers and fellow designers • Ensure design intent is effectively communicated to stakeholders and management during implementation • Conduct and analyze UX research, report insights, and drive design decisions • Demonstrate design concepts through prototypes and hands-on design work • Continuously improve products through ongoing follow-up and iteration • Define and steer the visual style for overall products and user experiences in collaboration with the creative design team • Deliver high-quality design deliverables that adhere to accessibility and UX guidelines • Represent design in project and status meetings and advocate for user-centered design within cross-functional teams.

What you bring: • Pursuing a Master's degree in HCI, Design, or related field required • Must be able to work 30 – 40 hours/week during the summer months. • Previous experience in UX/design for digital products (customer-facing or internal) • Expertise in design tools (e.g. Sketch, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite) • Proficient in front-end development (CSS, HTML) • Sharp eye for UX and attention to detail, ability to translate requirements into interactive solutions • Articulate self-starter with strong collaboration, presentation, and problem-solving skills • Experience in design systems, Web standards (usability, accessibility), and current design trends • Customer-focused with strong values in UX, technology, and communication • Comfortable with ambiguity, Agile/scrum, and managing multiple tasks • Proven ability to advise senior management and solve complex UX challenges • Online portfolio showcasing creative thinking and problem-solving skills a plus • Proficient in visual design
