Sustainability is a responsibility for the entire chemicals and manufacturing industry. Despite the strong commitment from key players in the industry to innovate in this space, the quality, quantity, and shareability of sustainability data remains a key challenge.
This role as a data science and AI intern will be to assist in the automation of calculating sustainability data, including ingesting, transforming, and performing computations to convert data on chemical and manufacturing processes into sustainability metrics using standardized techniques. Data may come from a variety of sources and need to be integrated into a common framework. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a team sponsored by EMD Group’s Global Science and Technology Office to develop data pipelines and AI tools to support this goal.
• Self-motivated individual with a strong interest in data and sustainability
• Experience with version control and collaboration tooling (git)
• Programming proficiency in Python, R, C++, Tensorflow, or other suitable languages.
• Knowledge of data pipelines and analytics environments, like Palantir Foundry, Tableau, or Power BI is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with distributed systems (Spark) is desired
• Knowledge of machine learning models, large language models, and other types of frameworks are desirable
• Experience with designing web applications in the Amazon AWS App service or similar platforms is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be communicate across different scientific disciplines
Basic Qualifications:
- Studying for a Bachelors degree in computer science, data science or engineering, electrical engineering, statistics, mathematics, the physical sciences, or a related field.
