Strategic Partnership Internship Description
November 2023
We're protecting and enhancing America's National Park System for present and future generations.
National Parks Conversation Association (NPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest national parks nonprofit advocate, has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Partnerships & Marketing Intern to join our communications department.
This internship will provide an opportunity to shadow and learn from members of our communications department, as well as provide hands-on training across NPCA’s corporate partnerships and marketing program.
The intern will gain skills in corporate partnerships, cause marketing, general marketing and communications, writing, editing, research and project management. The intern will complete the internship with tangible projects for their professional portfolio (assets created in association with Travelodge and Wondery campaigns, evergreen content developed for partnership library and deliverables associated with multi-partner activations), as well as practical experience working as part of an agile team contributing to campaigns and developing deliverables associated with nationally recognized brands.
Location: US/Remote
Schedule: Part-time; 12-15 hrs/week during NPCA’s workweek (Mon-Thu). The internship will run during the spring semester from mid-January to the end of May. Full-time and part-time students are encouraged to apply; we do our best to work with students and their class schedules.
Compensation: Course Credit plus a stipend or $2k Stipend (if course credit is not applicable)
Responsibilities:
Partnership Content: • Contribute to and support the development of a resource library for strategic partners, comprised photo/video assets, key copy and turnkey, evergreen assets and content for partner use. • Contribute to and support multi-partner activations for spring and summer 2024 as well as brainstorms related to fall 2024 activation. • Contribute to and support the development of the spring campaign for Travelodge® by Wyndham and a Women’s History Month activation with Wondery. • Contribute to and support the development of silent auction activation, including writing prize descriptions, delivering assets to stakeholders and coordinating with Strategic Partnerships team to ensure prizes are shipped to winners.
Prospect Research: • Research prospective corporate partners and related marketing contacts. • Support development of prospect pipeline by identifying partner brands/opportunities; provide key insights on partnership opportunities. • Participate in brainstorms for prospective partnerships and/or existing partner renewal opportunities.
Day-to-Day Team & Partnership Efforts: • Gain first-hand professional experience by participating in team meetings, such as: • Regular meetings with select NPCA strategic partners. • Bi-weekly Strategic Partnerships + Social team check-in meetings. • Bi-weekly Communications team meetings. • Weekly Strategic Partnerships & Marketing team meetings. • Receive coaching and training through weekly 1-on-1 meetings with supervisors. • Provide administrative and clerical support for partner projects, meetings and a virtual partner event.
Preferred Qualifications: • Current college student enrolled in undergraduate (junior or senior) or post-graduate program; or recent college graduate (within one year of graduation). • Coursework towards or a degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Digital Communications, or a related program. • Strong written and verbal communication, strong editing skills. • Microsoft Office proficiency. • Strong research skills, specifically in communicating key information about brands relevant to prospecting. • Experience writing professionally or for a school publication preferred. • Interest in graphic design also preferred (e.g., social media content, experience in Canva). • Familiarity with social media (Instagram, Tik Tok, others). • Self-motivated, detail-oriented. • Dependable, flexible and ability to maintain confidentiality. • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
