Position Overview:

The primary objective of this summer internship is to support Chemonics’ Digital Development (DD) Practice. The DD Practice has an ambitious plan to transform Chemonics’ engagement with digital solutions to ensure innovations are incorporated into our company core business, including new business proposals and projects across all sectors and geographies. The Practice’s primary goal is to position Chemonics as a thought leader in Digital Development. While the Practice works across all sectors and geographies, core work is driven by market trends and donor priorities, and thus has focused on the following areas: (1) digital governance, (2) EdTech, and (3) FinTech. As an incredibly crosscutting topic area, the DD Practice facilitates meaningful collaboration and partnerships across Chemonics’ technical practices, projects, and global workforce. The DD Practice intern will be an integral member of the team and will strengthen the Practice’s capacity to achieve its goals. The internship will take a dual-pronged approach focused on both the intern supporting the DD Practice achieve key goals, as well as providing the intern with exciting professional development opportunities that strengthen their capacity to understand and apply DD approaches in development programming. Responsibilities:

Administrative:

• Participate in all internship activities and events scheduled during normal business hours.
• Attend regular 1:1 check-ins with supervisor and DD team meetings to monitor progress and address outstanding questions.
• Attend monthly DD Office Hours.
• Attend regular USG Strategy Division meetings.
• Attend relevant cross-practice meetings.
• With time permitting, the supervisor and team may share additional optional meetings for intern attendance for learning and notetaking.

Business Development:

• Lead data entry and record-keeping to enable the DD Practice to track, analyze, and share DD trends and performance.
• Support the regular maintenance and potential development of key DD resources and documents.
• Support relationship building and engagement with clients, consultants, and counterparts to advance DD partnerships.
• Attend and take notes for webinars, strategy sessions, and/or other relevant meetings to capture the competitive landscape, client preferences, potential partners and personnel, and innovative or evidence-based approaches for consideration.

Technical Approaches:

• Conduct research, organize information, or otherwise support demand-driven technical needs for DD team requests.
• Support and facilitate internal connections among relevant projects.
